Errors in the GeoJSON files |
|
On June 30th 2020, Nigel Lee e-mailed me with a query. It turned out that he had unearthed a problem with my website which has been there since it was first created. Unfortunately the process for creating GeoJSON files had a bug in that when the files get updated (because a local authority had released new data) some of the previous GeoJSON files didn't get deleted. These GeoJSON files are used to show the paths on the maps. This problem did not affect the website's other derived data, i.e., the KML and CSV files. The problem affected the GeoJSON files of the following 23 local authorities: Barnsley, Central Bedfordshire, Bromley, Cheshire West and Chester, Cornwall, Devon, Dudley, Essex, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, Pembrokeshire, Redcar and Cleveland, Rotherham, Sheffield, Staffordshire, Suffolk, Surrey, Torfaen, Worcestershire, Wiltshire. The file whichones.csv has data showing which GeoJSON files were retained when they should have been deleted. It also indicates the names of the public rights of way that appears in these files. I've now (July 5th 2020) altered the GeoJSON files for these local authorities. My thanks to Nigel Lee for finding this problem. I'm sorry that this stupid error has occurred and for any inconvenience.
