Dataset containing the public rights of way of Cheshire East |
|
The council of Cheshire East provide web pages from where you can download data files that contain details of the public rights of way that are in Cheshire East. There is a separate web page for Footpaths, Bridleways, Restricted Byways and Byways open to all traffic. Each of those web pages provides a link labelled "(WFS)" which allows you to download the data in GML format. I've also found that you can use their WFS Server to download the four pieces of data as ESRI shape files. I used the following links to download ESRI shape files for their Footpaths, Bridleways, Restricted Byways and Byways open to all traffic. The council provides information about public rights of way on its online map. It may be that their map uses more up-to-date information. An authority's Definitive Map is the authoritative source of their rights of way. The details of the public rights of way network contained in an authority's data are for information only, and are an interpretation of the Definitive Map, not the Definitive Map itself, and should not be relied on for determining the position or alignment of any public right of way. For legal purposes, an authority's data does not replace their Definitive Map. And changes may have been made to the Definitive Map that are not included in their data. The authority's data contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database right 2024. Attempting to view this data with more detail than 1:10000 may produce an inaccurate rendering of the route of a public right of way. The council of Cheshire East have informed me that the data files are made available under the terms of the Open Government Licence. So it's possible for you to use this data provided you give the attribution that the data has been provided by the council of Cheshire East. This web site also provides data about the rights of way of Cheshire East in KML format, in GPX format, in CSV format and in GeoJSON format.
