KML files containing the public rights of way of Barnsley |
|
The council of Barnsley have provided Adam Snape with MapInfo files that contain the details of their public rights of way. This data seems to have been created on 12th June 2018. An authority's Definitive Map is the authoritative source of their rights of way. The details of the public rights of way network contained in an authority's data are for information only, and are an interpretation of the Definitive Map, not the Definitive Map itself, and should not be relied on for determining the position or alignment of any public right of way. For legal purposes, an authority's data does not replace their Definitive Map. And changes may have been made to the Definitive Map that are not included in their data. The authority's data contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database right 2024. Attempting to view this data with more detail than 1:10000 may produce an inaccurate rendering of the route of a public right of way. This web page indicates that the MapInfo files are made available by the council of Barnsley under the terms of the Open Government Licence. So it's possible for you to use this data provided you give the attribution that the data has been provided by the council of Barnsley. I have transformed the MapInfo files into a KML file. I have converted this KML file into the basic KML format that is used by this web site for all authorities. For each public right of way, this basic KML format has the name of the authority (Barnsley), a unique number within the authority for the public right of way, the name or number of the parish/community, the name or number of the public right of way, the type of the public right of way (i.e., footpath, bridleway, ...) and any additional information about the public right of way that I've obtained from the data supplied by the authority. Here is a link to the converted KML file for Barnsley. This KML file has been augmented with additional information. For each public right of way, the augmented format also includes its length (in miles), the longitude and latitude of its first point, the longitude and latitude of its last point, the eastings and northings of its first point and the eastings and northings of its last point. Here is a link to the augmented KML file for Barnsley. This web site also provides information about the public rights of way of Barnsley in GPX format, in CSV format and in GeoJSON format.
