KML files containing the public rights of way of North Somerset

The council of North Somerset have provided me with a zip file that has an ESRI shape file that has the details of their public rights of way. The ESRI shape file seems to have been created on 31st January 2024.

The Council also provides information about public rights of way on its online map. It may be that their map uses more up-to-date information.

The Council points out that their Definitive Map is the authoritative source of the Council's public rights of way. The details of the public rights of way network contained in the Council's data are for information only, and are an interpretation of the Definitive Map, not the Definitive Map itself which carries a relevant date of 26 November 1956, and should not be relied on for determining the position or alignment of any public right of way. For legal purposes, the Council's data does not replace their Definitive Map. And changes may have been made to the Definitive Map that are not included in their data. The Council's data contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database right 2024. Attempting to view this data with more detail than 1:10000 may produce an inaccurate rendering of the route of a public right of way.

The council of North Somerset have informed me that ESRI shape file is made available under the terms of Open Government Licence v3.0. So it's possible for you to use this data provided you give the attribution that the data has been provided by the council of North Somerset.

I have transformed the ESRI shape file into a KML file.

When producing the KML, I have used OSTN15 to transform OSGB36 to WGS64.
